Grace Walker Smith, 99, formerly of Amarillo and Euless, died Friday, April 11, 2003.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Robert E. Field officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Answering to Mom, Grace, Gracie, Granny and Granny Good-Witch, her love, compassion and great sense of humor served her well as she attempted to mentor to all of her brood along with their friends. Her sharp wit turned many a situation into joyful occasion. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in both Amarillo until 1962 and in Euless for the remaining years until both her age and health prevented her participation. She was very active in the senior program and filled positions in the prayer closet and the clothes closet to serve the need of others. Her Sunday school class was her greatest joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsey Smith in 1962; and two sisters, Blanch Herring and Mary Whipple, all of Amarillo.
Survivors include two daughters, Bettye Warren of Euless and Linette Harwell and husband, George, of Houston; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, 600 E. 11th Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101.
