Margie enjoyed bowling, growing and arranging flowers, and later, as a family, rock hounding. Margie looked forward to their annual trips to Arizona, Montana and Oregon, where she and Dave dug, polished, bought, and sold rocks and rock jewelry. They made many friends through the years of association with different rock clubs and gem and mineral show dealers. Dave and Margie were famous for their Chico grown walnuts and almonds, which they also sold at the swaps. Margie enjoyed her friends at Grace Brethren and visits from her sons and their families. Many times, during their visits, they played card games and had root beer floats.
In 2009, after 52 years of marriage, Dave died and Margie left her home on East 3rd Ave. of more than 50 years. She moved to Bothell, Washington to be with two of her sons and their families. After years of heart trouble and other illnesses, Margie died on June 24, 2011, at the age of 85. Her family trusts she is now joyfully united with Christ, her husband Dave, and David who died in 2003.
Margie is survived by her sister, Virginia (living in Texas); her sons, Lawrence Pomada (Michelle), Robert Pomada (Clarice), Richard Pomada; daughter-in-law, Maria Barkley (David), and Matthew Barkley; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, residing in WA, CA and TX.
Memorial Services were held in Bothell, WA on July 6th at 5 p.m. at Evergreen Washelli and will be held in Chico, CA on July 27th at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Brethren Church. Margie will be laid to rest at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico CA. Published in Chico Enterprise-Record on July 23, 2011.
