Obituary for James Hockenberry
James R. Hockenberry, 67, of Hopewell, Pennsylvania: went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Conemaugh Hospital. He was born on May 16, 1944 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; a son of the late Robert J. and Dorothy (Gelwicks) Hockenberry.
He is survived by the following family:
Adored Daughter and Granddaughter:
Angela Sue Steele and fiancé Eli Akins, Greensburg, PA
Granddaughter:
Valerie Sue Steele, Bowling Greene, VA
Three Step Children:
Trudy married to Vaughn Lynn, Hopewell; David Smith married to Tempe, Shade Gap, PA; and the late Judy Smith.
Brothers and Sisters:
Juanita married to Pete Kinzy, Hopewell; Ag Hockenberry, Chambersburg; Carolyn married to Bill Bush, Hanover, PA; LaDonna married to Paul Zimmerman, Saxton; Bruce Hockenberry married to Tammy, Riddlesburg; Bruce Eltman, Saxton
Special Friends: Tom and Carol Eller, with whom he resided.
And Numerous Nieces and Nephews
Mr. Hockenberry was a member of the Healing Waters Church of God, Woodbury.
He worked for New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company for twenty-five years as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 2000.
He enjoyed riding his ATV, collecting coins, antique toys and loved his dog Trixie.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel with Pastor C. O. Horton officiating.
Friends may call at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton on Friday, July 8, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
Burial will be held in Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell.
If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Hockenberry to the Bedford County Humane Society, 1108 Lutzville Road, Everett, PA 15537.
