Homer Eugene Reefer, 83, of Shelocta, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 24, 1922, to E. Getus and Elizabeth A. (Meyer) Reefer in Plumcreek Township.

Mr. Reefer was employed by Bracken Construction as a laborer for roadconstruction, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Gastown.

He lived his entire life in the Plumcreek Township area.

Survivors include his wife, H. Doris (Wright) Reefer, whom he married Sept. 3, 1941; two sons, James G. Reefer and wife Roberta, and Clair E. Reefer and wife Patricia, all of Shelocta; one daughter, Harriet E. Shaulis and husband Kenneth, of Saltsburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Emmet Reefer and wife Rose, of Shelocta.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; two brothers, Ward and Lloyd Reefer; and one sister, Louise Scott.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, 238 S. Main St., Elderton, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Vaughn Taylor and Pastor Joyce Dix-Weiers, co- officiating.
