Mr. H. C. Arant died at his home near Elloree on Sunday, 4th instant, in the seventieth year of his age. Mr. Arant was a gallant Confederate soldier, never having lost a day from service during the three years he was at the front in Virginia and elsewhere. He was a good man and was highly respected by a large circle of relatives and friends. For many years he was a consistent member of the Methodist Church, and died as he had lived for years a consecrated Christian. A wife and six children are left behind to mourn the death of an affectionate husband and father, but they have the sweet consolation of knowing that he whom they mourn is now safe on the other side.
