"Loren Charles Elliott, passed away January 13, 2011 [Thursday]. He was born June 11, 1918 in Golden City, Missouri, the first of five sons born to Charlie Amos Elliott and Mabel Clara Eidson. He came to California with his family when he was six years old. He was educated at Enterprize Grammar School in Tulare, attended Tulare Union High School and was on the Tulare County Championship Hurdles Team setting a record that was not broken. He graduated from Visalia Union High School and Visalia Junior College. He served in the US Air Corp as an airplane mechanic during World War II. He was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges, a member of the American Legion and Independent Order of Foresters and past President of the California School Employees Association Chapter 83. Loren was also active in Parent Teachers Association receiving an honorary life membership. He was on the Board of Directors for Visalia Senior Housing Inc., a member of the Retired Public Employees Association of Tulare and Kings County, and a life-long member of the Visalia Disciples of Christ. Loren was employed by the Visalia Unified School District for over 40 years. He married Charlotte Harlan Smith on October 25, 1939 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death in 2008. They had four children, Ellen DeSouza of Fresno, Stanley Elliott of North Hollywood, Sid Elliott of Visalia, and Edele Fischer of Visalia. He is survived by his four children and their spouses as well as eight grandchildren and their spouses, Rodney and Russell DeSouza of Fresno, Melissa Stillfield and Matt Elliott of Visalia, Priscilla Loliva of Visalia, Gene Fischer of Michigan, Katrina Fischer of Arizona and Laban Fischer of Visalia. Loren also leaves behind fourteen Great Grandchildren: Tyler, Chase, and Conner DeSouza of Fresno, Nickolas and Kaitlyn DeSouza of Fresno, Samantha and Lauren Stillfield and Justin Portello of Visalia, Jacob and Brody Loliva of Visalia, Lora De Stoops of Visalia, Ashley Fischer of Washington, Ethan and Autumn Fischer of Visalia and three Great, Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Robert Elliott of Visalia and Donald Elliott of Tulare. Loren will be missed by several nephews and nieces as well as many extended family.
