Mrs. Mary M. Gifford, 93, formerly of Gifford Valley Road, Northville died Sunday, October 5, 2003 at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam, following a long illness.
She was born November 30, 1909 in West Leyden, NY. She was the daughter of Frank and Wilhelmina Wilbert Miller.
She attended local schools in the West Leyden area. She was employed as a glove worker for many Northville area glove shops and was a "Forget" sewer and homemaker.
Mary was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Northville.
She married Ward Conklin on May 5, 1934 and he died in 1937. She was married to John Gifford on June 28, 1947 and he died in 1969.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Vanderhoof of Rome, NY and Mrs. Agnes Carter of Fort Johnson, NY; several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Friends may call Wednesday, October 8, 2003 from 10:00 to 11;00 a.m. at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Bridge Street, Northville where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Father Robert Powhida as celebrant.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam, NY.
