Rial S. Bass, 93, Succumbs in Del Paso Heights
Last rites will be held Monday for Rial S. Bass, 93, who was born in Miller County, Mo., during the Civil War. For the last 32 years he resided in Del Paso Heights at 4549 Dry Creek Road.
The services will begin at 10:30 AM in the James R. Garlick Funeral Home. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery. Bass died Tuesday in his home. He was reared in Missouri where he operated a farm and was employed as a blacksmith for a number of years before going to Pueblo, Colo., to work as a carpenter and cabinet maker for the Missouri Pacific Company.
Worked As Carpenter
After he moved to Del Paso Heights he was employed as a carpenter until the age of 75 when he retired. Despite his advanced age he was active until two years ago, taking care of his vegetable garden, fruit trees, chickens, grape arbor and hedges. For many years he attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church of North Sacramento. His wife, Ada, died July 13th.
