Beatrice A. "Beatsy" (Gries) Meyer, 65, of 12202 Mill Place, Kiel, (School Hill), passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side.

Beatsy was born in Sheboygan on December 2, 1945 to Joseph and Mary Ann (Bogenschuetz) Gries. She graduated from St. Isidore Catholic School, Osman in 1960 and from Kiel High School with honors in 1964.

On May 14, 1966 she married Wallace H. Meyer at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Osman.

She started her working career as a stenographer at Kohler Co., then became a stay at home mom and raised her four children who she was blessed with. For 20 plus years she babysat for several families who have and always will have a special place in her heart. After retiring from babysitting she worked for Bonde's Quick Mart in the bakery department before working at the K&M Piggly Wiggly in Kiel as the assistant produce manager from 1999 until her illness. She was always very proud of her work and loved the time she spent with her coworkers. Beatsy was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill where she was an involved member of the Christian Woman Society and taught high school religion classes for over 25 years. She truly loved inspiring young people about God. She was an avid collector of angels. Her house was filled with angels and truly believed in the powers they possessed.

Beatsy loved gardening, reading, crafts, board games, bowling, playing and coaching softball. After hanging up her cleats, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren playing in all of their sporting events. She was a very faithful and avid fan of the Kiel Raiders. "Go Raiders Go!" Her summers were spent at the School Hill community ball park managing the concession stand in which she took great pride. She loved playing Santa at the Christian Mothers Christmas party and thoroughly enjoyed making people laugh at her jokes. She also played Mrs. Claus and other characters at K&M Piggly Wiggly. She loved giving out hugs, kisses and lot of smiles. Beatsy believed in hugs and kisses and always said they were great because they were free and kept her strength up. In addition to Wally, her loving husband of 45 years, survivors include her four children, David (Julie) Meyer and their children, Derek, Jordan and Rachel; Doreen (Jay) McNatt and their son Owen; Dean (Judy) Meyer and their daughter Isabella; Denise (Chad) Morley, all of Kiel; three sisters, Geri (Larry) Brendel of Howards Grove; Diane (Terry) Kress of Kiel; Karen (David) Salm of Cleveland; a brother, Robert (Linda) Gries of Sheboygan; a sister-in-law, Diana (Gries) Niesen of Kiel; a mother-in-law, Ella Meyer of Manitowoc, three sister-in-laws, Janice (Fritz) Wehausen and Yvonne (Jim) Hochkammer of Manitowoc; Marion Meyer of Cleveland.
