Fred was a retired self-employed auto mechanic. He served our country in the U. S. Army. He was a POW in Germany in WWII. 501 Parachute Infantry, 101 Airborne Division WWII, a life time member of the VFW and DAV and a member of the Crafton Baptist church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Myrtle Adams in June of 2001.
He is survived by his sons, Sam Adams of Bridgeport and C. F. Smith and wife and Christina of Rosemond, CA; daughters, Regenia Alexander of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Kim Alexander of Denton and Aaron Smith and wife Mecaila of Long Beach, CA; brothers, Bob Adams and wife Ruth Ann of Euless and Bill Adams and wife Sondra of Grapevine; sister Daisy Sperber; brother-in-law, Gene Edwards; numerous nieces and nephews.
Service will be Friday, January 10, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in Hawkins Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Wood officiating. Interment will be at the West Bridgeport Cemetery. Wise County Veterans Group will serve as pallbearers. Graveside military honors, 21 gun salute and Taps will be handled by the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Lone Star Chapter. Family will receive friends at the Hawkins Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
