Erastus was a shoemaker and farmer. He married Susan D. Beaman about 1844 in Connecticut and had Erastus Henry, Wallace, and Willis. In 1860 and 1870, he was in LaGrange Township, Lorain County before moving to Wood County. Erastus died from dropsy at the age of 68.
