Services for Irma A. Gannaway, 94, a resident of Norman and a longtime Tuttle resident was at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept 21, 1987 at the Tuttle United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Stitt officiating and Rev. Raymond Shepard assisting. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Gannaway died Sept. 16, 1987 at Norman Regional Hospital.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Geer , she was born June 2, 1893 at Gainesville, TX. At age one year, she moved with her family in a covered wagon to western Oklahoma near Foss, where she grew up. She was a graduate of Clinton High School, attended Oklahoma University, and taught in the Tuttle and Wewoka High Schools.
She married Virgil Gannaway, a Tuttle druggist, in 1921 and continued to live there until she moved to Norman in 1982.
She was a member of the Tuttle United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church Women, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Mrs. Gannaway was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include: One daughter, Gloria Rawlings of Norman; One son, Col. Jay T. Gannaway of Roy, Utah; One brother, Paul Geer of Oklahoma City; Three sisters, Grace Boggs of Camarillo, CA; Florence Ledbetter of Chico, CA; Elizabeth Noonan of Kirkwood, MO; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
The organist, Deanna Hardesty; Soloist, Bob Byers; Pall Bearers, Dr. J.K. Gannaway, Kerry Gannaway, Chris Cord, Bob Kueny, Bill Geer, Jack Moore and Paul Potter.
