Mr. Collins was born on March 7, 1916 in Wilkes County to the late William Early Collins and Lula Johnson Collins. Proudly serving in the United States Army, he was a veteran of World War II and later retired from Robins Air Force Base following 34 years of service. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church where he was a faithful servant for many years. He served the Lord as a former Deacon, usher, and was on the visitation committee. Mr. Collins loved to watch the Atlanta Braves, and he was a wonderful gardener- always giving vegetables to his friends. He was a wonderful Dad and Grandfather, who was loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Barbee Collins; brother, William Collins; and sisters, Estelle Denard, and Cynthia Terry.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Gilleland (Wayne) of Lizella, and Nancy Calhoun (Wayne) of Garden City, South Carolina; grandchildren, Sherrie Hitchcock (Jimmy) of Canton, Dr. Melanie Pittard (Tim) of Lizella, Stephen Gilleland of Duluth , and Michael Johnson (Stephanie) of Lizella; great grandchildren, Clay Hitchcock of Canton, Fletcher Pittard of Lizella, and Gracelyn Johnson of Lizella; and several nieces and nephews.
