The Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, Wednesday, July 5, 1967:
Elmer S. Patterson, 73, of 4909 N. Miller, former owner-operator of the Cain Hotel in Weatherford, died Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Services will be 11 am Thursday in Hahn-Cook Street & Draper Funeral Home with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Patterson was born at Paris, Texas and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Paris. He came to Oklahoma City in 1919 and was manager of Carruthers-Smith Dry Goods Store at Frederick. He later worked with the Farm Security Administration for 13 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lena, of the home; three sons, E. W. "Pat," 2325 Bellview Terr.; Jim C., 2124 N. Kelly; and Dale J., Calgary, Alberta, Canada; two sisters, Mrs Bess Bobo, Cooper, TX; and Mrs Myrtle Hurvey, Paris, TX.
