Former longtime Liberty Township secretary
Gladys R. Bower, 89, formerly of Mooresburg, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Brandywine Hospital, Coatesville. She had been residing in Coatesville with her daughter since July 2009.
Born in Turbotville on Nov. 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Neta R. (Lindauer) Yoder. She was married to Samuel G. Bower for 42 years until his death July 13, 1983.
Gladys graduated from the former Turbotville High School and had been employed as a secretary for Liberty Township for many years until retiring.
She was a member of Mooresburg Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law: Julie A. and Kenneth Martin, Coatesville; a son and daughter-in-law: Rodney L. and Melinda Bower, Alexandria, Va.; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Jane) Yoder, and a sister, Dorothy (Raymond) Cochran, all of Turbotville.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were two brothers: Floyd N. Yoder, Nov. 13, 2001, and Kenneth R. Yoder, Nov. 28, 2005.
Friends are invited to call 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, where the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brynne Crowe of Doe Run Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to Mooresburg Presbyterian Church, 9 Church Road, Danville, PA 17821.
