Marie (Hibbard) Goodchild
After a brave battle, Marie Goodchild was released from this earth on Friday morning, July 22, 2011, at home with her family beside her.
Marie was born to loving parents, Frank and Thirza (West) Hibbard, on June 5, 1930. With her older siblings, Alice and Bill, she was raised in Santa Maria and graduated from Santa Maria High in 1948. While in high school she met her future husband, Francis Goodchild, son of Frank and Elisa (Ruiz) Goodchild. They were married while he was in the U.S. Army in the chapel in Fort Monmouth, NJ on June 22, 1951. Marie, her mother, Thirza, and Francis' mother Elisa, drove Francis' car all the way to New Jersey for the ceremony. Marie was mother to Linda, Susan, Frank and Anita. She was very active in the Blochman School District P.T.F. when her children were attending. She always lovingly welcomed those who needed a place at the holiday table. She reveled in color, not only in her crochet projects, but especially in her yard and flower garden.
She is survived by her siblings Alice Apalategui and Bill (Joyce) Hibbard; daughters, Linda Pulliam and Susan (Andre) Singley; daughter-in-law, Karen (Barajas) Goodchild, and her 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, Frank and Thirza Hibbard; her husband of nearly 40 years, Francis; her son, Frank Goodchild; her daughter, Anita Robinson; son-in-law, Rod Pulliam; and her grandson Travis Rowan.
