Clemmie Lowe Massengale, 80, of the Smokey Junction community, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 1993 at the Scott County Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Andy Lowe and the late Matilda Carroll Lowe and was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Massengale; one infant daughter and one infant granddaughter; five brothers and one sister. She was a member of the Riverview Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Massengale is survived by eleven children, Dorothy Kimble of New Castle, Okla., Donald Massengale and wife Vivian of Helenwood, Vauda Estep and husband Elzie of Lewistown, O., Wanda Newport and husband William of Winona, Maudie Morris and husband Thomas of Lakeview, O., Flonnie Daugherty and husband Harold of LaFollette, Dillard Massengale of Smokey Junction, Linda Day and husband Dennis of Norma, Beatrice Lowe and husband Delford of Redkey, Ind., Lorene Day and husband Ronnie of Norma, and Ronald Massengale and wife Sherry of Pioneer; thirty-five grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 24, at the Smokey Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Edmon Lowe officiating. Burial was in the Smokey Creek Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were: Harold Daugherty Jr., Clyde Estep, Ronnie Lee Day, Jr., Don Anthony Massengale, Thomas Lay, and Danny R. Owens.
