Delbert Berry Dies In Ripley Hospital Monday Evening

Delbert E. Berry, of Advent, died at the Kessel Hospital in Ripley Monday evening at six-thirty o'clock as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident near Fairplain several days previous. His death had been expected for several hours.

Berry was injured on the night of September 2 in an automobile crash at the Greene farm on the Ripley-Kenna road. His skull was badly fractured and at the time he was taken to the hospital he was thought to be dying but rallied and apparently made some improvement during the days which followed. He regained consciousness and talked to members of his family last week but on last Sunday there was a relapse in his case due to complications and on Monday morning all hope for his recovery was abandoned. Carroll Counts, who was riding with him in the truck at the time of the accident and S. D. Markus, the driver of the other car figuring in the accident, both recovered and were discharged from the hospital.

The body was taken to the Mays Funeral Home and prepared for burial Monday night and was taken to the Berry home near Advent Tuesday. Funeral services were held there Wednesday and interment was in the Hackney cemetery.

Two of Berry's brothers and numerous other relatives and neighbors were at the hospital when the end came. The wife who had been with him much of the time was taken to her home shortly before he died.
