Malinda Catherine (Charles) Akers is the daughter of Fredrick Charles and Malinda Ellinor/Eleanor McCoy. Her mother, Malinda E. McCoy is believed to have been the first cousin of "Rand'l" Randolph McCoy (the famous leader of the McCoy Clan from the Hatfield and McCoy feud in Pike Co., Kentucky and West Virginia). Fredrick Charles died in Nov. 1859 in Pike Co., Kentucky. His widow (Malinda McCoy Charles) remarried to a widower, Simpkins Keathley (who had lost his first wife, Patsey Akers, who died May 19, 1859) August 5, 1860 in Pike County. Simpkins Keathley's signature is on the marriage bond of Robert Akers and Malinda Catherine Charles.
