CABLEGRAMS REVEAL RELEASE OF TWO LOCAL MEN FROM NAZI PRISION CAMPS
A Mother's day cablegram from Staff Sgt Robert McCormic, who has been in a German prison camp..... There was rejoicing Tuesday in the home of Mr and Mrs Hugh Brown and family, West Lafayette. The first suruprise was a cablegram from their son Pfc Daniel H Brown who has been a prisoner of war in Germany for two years and three months. The message stated, "Hope to see you soon. Regards to everyone." Tuesday evening, Mr and Mrs Brown's daughter, Mrs Harry Krohe (Doris Brown) who resides with her parents, received a telephone call from her husband, Pfc Harry W Krohe, from New Jersey. He had just returned from nine months' service overseas. He was wounded last March in Germany, where he received the Purple Heart and other awards. He is awaiting transfer to a hospital and could not say when he would arrive home.
