Jade M. Garza, 14, of Sterling, died Monday, July 25, 2011. She was born April 8, 1997, in Sterling, the daughter of Christopher Garza and Sabrina Boyer. She enjoyed music, knitting, photography, and Facebooking, and was a self-taught guitarist. She loved life and spending time with her best friend, Hannah Kendall. Jade and Hannah were inseparable. They were polite, very well-mannered, and had extremely bubbly personalities. Both had just earned their eighth grade diplomas from Challand Middle School and were earning some money by detasseling corn in a farm field in Whiteside County. They would have started their freshman year at Sterling High School in the fall. Hannah and Jade died as a result of a farm accident. Surviving are her parents, Sabrina (Mike) Knapp of Sterling and Chris Garza (Carey Kobbeman) of Rock Falls; paternal grandmother, Debra (Randy) Conkling of Rock Falls; paternal grandfather, Fred (Marie) Garza of Sterling; paternal great-grandmother, Rosemary Patterson of Rock Falls; paternal great-grandmother, Shirley Garza of Rock Falls; maternal grandfather, Terry (Alma) Boyer of Rock Falls; maternal grandfather, Mike (Cathy) Knapp of Sterling; maternal great-grandmother, Sharon Jenkins of Rock Falls; maternal great-grandfather, Floyd (Patricia) Boyer of Sterling; three sisters, Bailey Knapp and Delanie Knapp, both of Yorkville, and Sophia Knapp of Sterling; uncles, Jamie (Mary) Sathoff, Tyree (Danica) Boyer and Jacob (Lisa) Boyer; aunts, Andrea Martin and Melissa Bush; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Derik Garza. Funeral July 29 McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Burial- Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Sauk Valley Newspaper.
