Hannah L. Kendall, 14, of Sterling, died Monday, July 25, 2011. She was born May 4, 1997, in Sterling, the daughter of Brian F. and Mary S. (Miller) Kendall. She enjoyed dancing, running track, music, reading books and writing, and was an avid "Facebooker." She loved spending time with her pets, and her friends were very important to her, especially her friend Jade Garza. Hannah and Jade were polite, well-mannered and inseparable. Both had just earned their eighth grade diplomas from Challand Middle School and were earning some money by detasseling corn in a farm field in Whiteside County. They would have started their freshman year at Sterling High School in the fall. They died as a result of a farm accident. Surviving are her parents, Brian and Mary; her sister, Sarah Kendall of Sterling; her maternal grandmother, Florence Miller of Rock Falls; her paternal grandmother, Patricia Kendall of Amherst, N.Y.; her uncles, Eric Kendall of Buffalo, N.Y., Michael (Rhonda) Miller of Sterling, James (Nancy) Miller of Rock Falls, Randy Miller of Sterling and Tony (Teresa) Miller of Georgia; her aunts, Michelle Kendall of Buffalo, N.Y., and Patti Miller of Sterling; and many loved cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather and paternal grandfather. McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling. Funeral July 29 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sterling.
