A Pleasant Event in Junius--One of the pleasantest social events of the season occurred at the residence of Mr. Wm. Avery in Junius on Saturday, June 21, it being the fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of Wm. Avery and Susan Gilbert.

The occasion was anticipated as one of great interest, as Mr. and Mrs. Avery had intended to make it a complete family reunion, and to assemble their large and widely scattered family once more at the old homestead. Their wishes were realized with but one exception. Mr. Wm. Avery, Jr. of Winona, Minn., their eldest son, was unable to be present.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rogers, and Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Avery of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harris and Mrs. Charles Ferris of Brookfield, Mich., and Mrs. (Clara/Clarissa) Sherry of St. Paul, Minn., had made especial efforts to be present.

The presence of Mr. Charles Avery and wife, who reside with their parents, added much to the pleasure of the company. A large number of Mr Avery's neighbors and special friends were also in attendance.

About 5 o'clock the company was called to order, and addressed by Rev. G. Travis, followed by Rev. P. Smith and Rev. Wm. Olin. The remarks of those gentlemen were very sympathetic. The guests were then treated to a sumptuous repast, consisting of all the delicacies of the temperate and torrid zones.

At the request of Mr. and Mrs. Avery, the company joining in sing the hymn, "God Be With You Till We Meet Again," after which the guests dispersed to their respective homes, leaving however, numerous useful and valuable mementos of their esteem with the host and hostess, including two fine chairs, a wolf robe, and other articles of no little intrinsic value.
