1933-March 8--Walter Christensen, son of Fred L. & Jorgina "Jennie" Christensen of Jacksonville, IA, and Margaret Louise White, the daughter of Helena (Hess) and John Harold White, were married in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. They began their married life together on a farm south of Prairie Rose Lake, Shelby County, IA.

Walter & Margaret were members of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Jacksonville, Iowa, where they both taught Sunday School and severed in offices. Walt was Choir Director for 35 years. Walt and 3 brothers-in-law (Thomas Hansen, Albert Fabian, Nick White) sang in a quartet for many events for many years.

The couple were blessed with three children: Patricia, married Derald E. Kumm; John, married Myrna Bladt; Mary Ellen, married Herman Marsh.

1936--They moved to a farm across the road from Walter's parents, 3/4 mile north of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Jacksonville.
1936, 1937 & 1938-Drought. They & many other farmers lost their entire crops to drought.
1960-bought a farm 1 mile south & 1 1/4 west of
Jacksonville.
1972-Retired from farming and moved to a farm south of the church corner. Walter worked at Prarie Rose State Park for the Iowa Conservation Commission.
1973-Bought an acreage south of Jacksonville.
1979-Moved to Harlan, Shelby County, IA. Became members at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan.

Walt became ill during his work at Prairie Rose Lake, was taken to Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA where he died 25 August 1983. MArgaret continued to reside in Harlan, IA.
