Maltese born Father Salvator Emmanuel Anastasi held the title of Preacher General. The cemetery incorrectly lists his name as Anastasia.

Born in Valletta to Karmenu Anastasi and Filomena Grima, on August 27, 1871, Salvu Anastasi joined the Order of Friars Preachers at their convent in Rabat on November 27, 1887, receiving the religious name of Emmanuel.

After finishing his studies in philosophy and theology at the Dominican Studium of St. Thomas Aquinas of Rabat, he was ordained to the priesthood on September 22, 1894.

A renowned orator, Anastasi was assigned to the priory of Vittoriosa. Shortly afterwards, he was named vice-parish priest in Sicily. Along the years he visited various parts of Italy and Northern Africa, establishing a name as a zealous preacher. An exemplary friar, familiar for his charities and cheerful character, he was very well known among the Maltese and Italian immigrants across the named countries. His popularity stretched even towards Constantinople which he also visited as a preacher.

A dynamic figure who traveled across various countries, he accepted the request from the Master of Dominican Order to serve as chaplain to the immigrants in Northern USA. He arrived at St. Catherine's Church, near the Convent of St. Vincent Ferreri in Manhattan, where Father Giovanni Fata OP., an Italian, was also residing. Even in the United States, Father Anastasi soon established a name due to his renowned oratory. In appreciation, Blessed Friar Hyacinthe-Marie Cormier OP., (1832 - 1916), Master General of the Dominican Order conferred to him the title of Preacher General.

While delivering a sermon in Jamaica, Father Anastasi fell sick and moved to the United States, where he was operated. However he passed away shortly afterward at St. Mary's Hospital, Orange, New York, on May 19, 1915, aged 43. His funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Catherine's church where he worked for several years. Padre Fata published several sermons and conferences of his at a later date.
