Joseph E. Franklin

Joseph E. Franklin, 60 of Oxford RD 3, PA, died at his home Wednesday.

Dr. Guy T. Holcombe Jr., Chester County deputy coroner, said Franklin was returning from his mailbox when he collapsed. He had a history of heart illness.

Franklin was born in North Carolina, a son of the Virgil L. and Hatie Burleson Franklin, and was the husband of Ethel Lewis Franklin.

He was a farmer and was a member of the Church of the Brethren of Jennersville and the Chester County Farmers Association.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter Jane, wife of Paul Bashore, Myerstown, PA; three sons, David J. and Theodore E., both of Oxford, PA, and Ronald L. of Bart, PA; four grandchildren.

Also three brothers, Denver of Hamilton, Ohio; Carl of Elsmere, Del., and Oliver of Atglen, PA, and four sisters, Mrs. Edward Ridolph, Hialeah, Fla.; Mrs. William Miller, West Lawn, PA; Mrs. John Coates, Oxford, PA, and Mrs. Floyd Babcock, Canton, PA.
