Dixie Sharlene Bateman was born December 1, 1955 in Boise, Ada County, Idaho. Shortly thereafter, Parley Steve Bateman and Maxine Louise (Mullen) Bateman adopted her and brought her to their farm northwest of Shoshone, Lincoln County, Idaho. Sharlene, as she preferred to be called, lived there until 1960 when her parents along with Steve's family bought Zim's Hot Springs resort north of New Meadows, Adams County, Idaho. Her father died in 1962 in McCall, Idaho, and she moved with her mother to her grandparent's (Lester and Eva (Baldwin) Mullen) farm southeast of Shelley, Bingham County, Idaho, in the Goshen farming community. Sharlene's mother married Alma Robinson of Soda Springs, Caribou County, Idaho in December 1963. She had an older step-brother, Paul Robinson and a younger brother, Alan Robinson. Sharlene attended schools in Firth, Bingham County, Idaho, and Soda Springs, Caribou County, Idaho, and graduated from Soda Springs High School in May 1973. She moved to Idaho Falls, Bonneville County, Idaho, and worked in senior care centers there until a few years ago. Sharlene never married. Her parents moved to Idaho Falls in the late 1980's and she eventually moved in with them. She had diabetes and had several medical problems related to it. She died in her sleep in her parent's home in Idaho Falls. Her funeral was held May 2, 2003, in Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley with internment beside her father, Steve, in Hillcrest Cemetery on the southside of town.
