Vaudeville Performer. She was a super-star in England, Paris, and Germany, and to a lesser extent in the U.S.A. In actuality, her real name was Josephine Yeiser until her 1926 marriage to Eddie Fields, a popular show business actor whose real name was Edward Greenfield. Josephine Trix (Greenfield) teamed with her famous sister Helen in the early 1920s and together they rose to the top of the vaudeville circuit. Because of her beautiful soprano voice, good looks, and the fact she was a wonderful dancer, Josephine was always in demand as a single performer. She appeared on radio in England with great success. She was billed as "The Sweetheart of London." Josephine was born and educated in Newmanstown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Newmanstown High in 1916, valedictorian. Like her sister Helen, the other "Trix Sister," Josephine had formal music training and was accomplished on the piano. When she married in 1926, Helen was furious and the Trix Sisters broke up for a period but both remained in England until 1944. Josephine and her husband found conventional work in New York City. After husband Edward's death in 1962, she remained in New York City, until 1973, when she moved to New Orleans to be with her only child, son Edward W. Greenfield. Josephine lived to be 94. Her ashes were returned to Newmanstown, Pennsylvania, where she was born. She lies buried in Elias Church cemetery, a block from where she was born, and beside the other Trix Sisters, Helen and Alma, and husband Edward Greenfield.
