Termed Critical
The conditions of three surviving area residents involved in a two car collision Tuesday afternoon on a slippery highway near Canyon, Texas, remained critical today, according to information received here by relatives and friends.
Mrs. J. B. Stout, whose husband was killed in the crash, was said to have regained consciousness but she is still critical.
Also critical is Timothy McClellan, 5-year-old grandson of the Stouts. He is the son of Mrs. Harvey Hays, Elk City and Warren McClellan, Port Orchard, Oregon.
Mrs. O. D. Burk, whose husband was also killed in the accident late Tuesday afternoon, is in a serious condition but is not believed critical.
Mr. Stout, Mr. Burk and Mrs. Naomi Algin Damron, all occupants of the same car, and two Texas men, George Penney and Clayton Davidson, occupants of the other car, all died soon after(sic) reaching a Canyon, hospital.
Mrs. Stout received a compound leg fracture, a fractured jaw and nose and facial lacerations. A bone from her leg struck into a cushion of the car, causing rescuers difficulty in removing her from the wreckage, relatives said.
Timothy McClellan's condition has been compliated(sic) by the collapse of a lung which was punctured in the crash. He received scalp lacerations, shock and possibly other injuries.
