Ernest Robert Winter, 73, 502 S. Rustin Avenue, an employee of Armour & Co. for 33 years prior to his retirement in 1952, died Sunday at a hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Winter was born July 8, 1886 in Germany. He came to Sioux City with his parents in 1889. On June 18, 1927, he married Estelle Briggs at Elk Point, SD. He was a member of the Lutheran church and the United Packinghouse Workers of America.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Howard of Des Moines; a stepson, Mervin Mongold of Remsen, Iowa; four brothers, Carl Winter of Wilmington California, Albert Winter of Portland Oregon; Richard Winter of Knightsen, California, and Fred Winter of Sioux City; four sisters, Mrs. Pauline Oeins of Minneapolis, Mrs. Marie Cocks of Fort Wayne, IN, and Mrs. Lena Dinkel and Mrs. Anna Grubel, both of Sioux City, and two grandchildren.

The W. Harry Christy funeral home in Morningside has charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Ernest Robert Winter, 73, 502 S. Rustin Avenue, an employee of Armour & Co for 33 years prior to his retirement in 1952, will be at 1:30 pm today at the W. Harry Christy funeral home in Morningside.

Rev. Stanley Ecklund of St. Luke's Lutheran church will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lester Johnson, Glen Dinkel, Henry and Harold Grubel, Fred Winter, and Fred Schwartz.
