Lowell ‘Phiz' Cox
CARROLLTON -- Lowell "Phiz" Cox, 62, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, at his daughter's home after a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 27, 1939, near Carrollton, he was a son of the late William and Maude (White) Cox.
Employed as a farmhand for many years, he was a member of New Life Tabernacle in Delhi.
He married the former Jane Wooster in Jerseyville June 18, 1960. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Ron Bettis of Roodhouse, Bernadette and Jeff Faul of Carrollton and Sherry and Mark Sharrow of White Hall; six sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Rhonda Cox of Mcleansboro, Ronnie and Vicki Cox of Carrollton, Bill Cox of Jerseyville, Sam and Janice Cox
of Carrollton, Jim and Michelle Cox of Kane and Clifton and Melissa Cox of Carrollton; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Wanda Ruyle of Carrollton, Clover Miller of Jerseyville, Frances Akers of Kane and Linda Schaake of Jerseyville; and four brothers, Herschel Cox of Jerseyville, William Cox of Kentucky, Gordon Dean Cox of Shipman and Pete Cox of Murrayville.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Sharrow; a grandson, Brandon Shanks; a son, Chuck Cox; a daughter, Roberta Cox; a brother, Courtland Cox; and two sisters, Audrey Platto and Eula McKinson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will follow at Kane Cemetery.
