WALTER F. GROOMS

Walter F. Grooms worked in Great Western Sugar campaigns in Hardin before moving to Billings in 1950 where he was driver-salesman for Consolidated Freightways until retiring in 1974. He was an Army medic during World War II and received the Bronze Star. A member of Oaks and Moose Lodge, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

Mr. Grooms 75, of 516 S. 32nd St., died Tuesday morning in Billings Deaconess Hospital.

Born in Valentine, Neb., a son of George and Mabel Grooms, he and his parents homesteaded in Broadus area where he attended school. He moved to Hardin as a young man, working on the construction of the Great Western Sugar Factory. He married Mary M. Codenys Oct. 20, 1933, in Billings.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Judy) Anderson of Bismarck, N.D., a son, Dale of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Mrs. Ellen Arnold of Billings; six brothers, Edmond, Ralph, Ellis and Joseph, all of Billings, Glen of Kennewick, Wash., and Lynn of Cody, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Smith Downtown Chapel with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
