Parents: Adolph and Minnie (Hatfield) Trankle.

As a young girl, she moved with her family to Myrtle Creek, Oregon where she resided for most of her adult life.

On April 7, 1945, she was united in marriage to Jerry Ausmus in Grants Pass, Oregon. The Ausmus' made their home in Myrtle Creek where they raised their family of six children. Alberta took an active role in her children's education in the South Umpqua School District, regularly volunteering her time. When her children were older she furthered her involvement by taking a job as the school custodian at the Tri City Elementary School. Both the students and their parents knew that her dedication to the children went far beyond sweeping floors and emptying wastebaskets. Alberta donated countless hours to projects and activities at the school. She retired from her position in 1982 after more than 13 years of service.

That same year, Jerry passed away and since that time Alberta had lived variously with each of her children, taking an active role in the lives of her grandchildren.

In 1996 she moved to her daughter, Neva's home in Cottage Grove, Oregon and had lived there ever since.

Surviving are her six children Laura (James) McConnell, Vancouver, Washington; Avis Hamstra, Lake View, Oregon; Neva Story, Cottage Grove; Royal (Jani) Ausmus, Lake View; John Ausmus, Cottage Grove and Dave (Kellie) Ausmus, also of Vancouver; a brother, Levern Trankle, Lake View and a sister, Leola (Ronald) Agee, Roseburg. She is further survived by 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
