Patricia Ann Harsch, 84 of West Chester, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011, at her home.
Born in Northeast Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Anna Thomas.
In addition to raising her children, Patricia had her own typography business, About Faces, and set type for the magazine of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and other local publications. Under the name About Faces Publishing Co., she also published several boutique books.
Patricia enjoyed gardening, corresponding with family and friends, and discussing her deeply held political convictions.
She had a tremendous zest for life, hosting more than 20 exchange students and their families from different countries and cultures.
She also had a deep appreciation for animals and was often found with a cat in her lap and dog at her feet.
Patricia was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Randolph Macon Women's College, with a bachelor's degree in Latin and English. She went on to be one of the first females to graduate with a master's degree in biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, ROBERT HARSCH
(1926-2019), daughters, Leslie Altena and her husband, James Altena, and Merry Harsch and her partner, Cathy Herman; and her dear grandson, Johnathan Herman-Harsch.
She was predeceased by her brothers, D. Gilbert Thomas and the Rev. Reid Thomas.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, to be followed by a service at 3 p.m. the Donohoe Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester.
Interment will be private.
