His Mother and Father devorced when he was a young boy and he went to live with his Father. His Father passed away in 1918 during the great influnzia epidemic and he went to live with his Aunt Emma L. Johnson Wickham in Guthrie Okla. who raised him until he started working.

Worked as a Motion Picture Theater Manager until 1950. Moved from Camden Arkansas to Fort Smith Arkansas and worked for the Fort Smith Times Record newspaper as an advertizing ad man. Worked for the local Television Station as advertizing salesman. Managed a radio station in Fort Smith for a few years, but started selling advertizing specialties and moved to Little Rock Arkansas in 1958. went back to newspaper advertizing at The Arkansas Democrat and retired there as advertizing manager.
