Alfred T. "Shorty" Mize, age 80, of Remlap, died August 28, 2003.

Mr. Mize was a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force with 26 years of service. Mr. Mize served in WWII, Korean Conflict and served 3 tours in Vietnam. Mr. Mize received the Distinguished Flying Cross and was the first Flight Engineer to log 5000 Hours in a C-130A Aircraft. He was a Sunday School Teacher at Lee's Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Locust Fork Masonic Lodge where he served as Chaplain. He was an active member of the VFW and he also served as a Lay Minister.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, August 31, at 2 p.m. at Lemley Chapel, Oneonta with burial in Pleasant Mount Baptist Church Cemetery, Remlap. Sister Lynn Moore and Bro. Glenn Bynum officiating.

Survivors: wife, Willow Mae Mize of Remlap; daughter, Linda (Edward) Waytenick of Conway, AR; granddaughter, Melissa Mitchell and husband, Michael Bennett of Fort Worth, TX; grandson, Matthew (Monique) Waytenick of Conway, AR; six great grandchildren; brother, John (Christine) Mize of Center Point, AL; a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers: Matthew Waytenick, Gerald Gamble, Johnny Hudson, Kenneth Mize, David Chastain and Craig Jones. Lemley Funeral Chapel directing.
