James N Kaye, for over 35 years a highly respected citizen of Greenport, died at his home on upper Main street on Thursday, Nov 21st. Mr Kaye, who was 68 years of age, was born in Malden NY. He was a master shipbuilder and during the many years that he lived in Greenport was employed in the various local shipyards. Mr Kaye, who was a member of Empire Council Jr O U A M and of Greenport Lodge I O O F, is survived by his wife Anna; two daughters, Mrs James Davis of Greenport and Mrs D L M Battle of Ashville, NC; two sons, George and Robert of Greenport; one brother Wallace of East Hartford, Conn; and two sisters Mrs W K Guitierrez of Mount Vernon NY and Mrs Lottie Kaye of Saugerties NY. Funeral services will be held at his late residence on Saturday afternoon, Nov 23, Rev George D Ashley, Rector of Holy Trinity Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sterling Cemetery.
