He was born with a club foot, however, it never stopped him. He enjoyed dancing with his wife at the German Dances. He loved life, and loved his family. He was known to help out anyone in need.

He was born March 24, 1923 in Scottsbluff, NE to John and Pauline (Hardt) Eckhardt. Albert married Bernice Burkhart on April 9, 1944 and moved to California January 1947. He lived in Hayward for 49 years and worked for Lloyd A. Wise Olds for 39 years until he retired. He loved traveling in his motorhomes for 30 years sightseeing and visiting different states. Albert loved Polka dancing. Loving husband of Bernice Eckhardt of 60 years. Cherished father of Rodger and Cathy Eckhardt. Caring grandfather of Christopher and Robert Eckhardt. One loving sister, Velma Hoffman; three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Kenneth; two sisters and one brother. Albert was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, 1836 B Street, Hayward. Visitation Wednesday from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral service Thursday and 10 a.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward.
