JOHN HENRY SMITH

John H. Smith of Six miles southeast of Yuma, died in Denver Thursday March 29, aged 66 years, 3 months and 28 days. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon, Dr. A. J. Waller officiating and interment was at the Yuma Cemetery.

John Henry Smith was born December 1, 1861, near Rushville, Illinois.

At the age of 17 he moved with his family to Peculiar, Missouri and he lived there till the age of 33, when he went to Oklahoma, where he was interested in cattle. He moved to Colorado in 1902. In 1900 he was married to Mrs. Sarah J. Smith and 11 months later she and their infant child passed away.

She was survived by her husband, two sons and one daughter. In 1911 he married Mary Virginia Leedy of Neosha Falls, Kansas. To this union three children were born. He was converted in November, 1913 and lived a Christian life from that time on. He belonged to the Modern Woodsman Camp at Peculiar, Missouri.

He leaves his wife and three children-Robert C. aged 16 years, Catherine aged 11 years and Margaret Juliet aged 10, two stepsons, James and Patrick Smith, all of Yuma and one stepdaugher, Mrs. Anna Wolf of Pomeroy, Ohio and two sisters and two brothers.
