ROBERT CONRAD SMITH
Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Yuma Monday morning, July 31 for Robert Conrad Smith. He died July 26 from injuries he received that day in an automobile accident. Rev. Joe Easton and Pastor Virginia Dennis officiated at the services. Interment was in the Yuma Cemetery.
He was born March 23, 1913 to John and Virginia Smith. Robert was united in marriage to Esther Clara Schwartz on July 27, 1936. To this union four sons were born, one of whom died in infancy. Esther died on June 30, 1972, following a long illness.
Robert was married to Betty Meade on October 21, 1975. They made their home in the Yuma area. Robert was President of the local Gideons, was an elder of the Full Gospel Lighthouse, was active in the Full Gospel Businessmen, served on the national board of Consumer's Cooperative Association, served on the Equity Coop board, was a charter member of the Yuma Federal Credit Union, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 149.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; his sons and their wives, Richard, Ralph, and Roy; seven grandchildren, Jim, John, Esther, Anfrea, Kethy, Becky and Marylu; his step children; and step great grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Gandt; two step brothers, James and Pat Smith, and a host of friends
