Arnold S. Amundson, 89, Climax, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, in Riverview Nursing Center, Crookston, Minn.

Mr. Amundson was born July 10, 1912, in Polk County, Minn. He attended school in Climax, graduating in 1930. He attended North Dakota State University for a year, then returned to Climax to operate the family farm with his father. He married Alyce Jevning May 15, 1936, in Crookston. In 1936, he began working as a federal-state produce inspector for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1977. He also farmed until 1967 when he went to work for the Minnesota Certified Potato Seed Division until his retirement in 1977. In 1977, he took the job of executive secretary of the Minnesota Potato Growers Association until his retirement in 1989.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Dr. Bruce (JoAnn), Seattle, Brent, Mahnomen, Minn., Brian (Pamela), in Germany; a sister, Orvella Jevning, Moorhead; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Two hours before the service in the church.

Memorial service: Friday at 11 in Climax Lutheran Church.

Burial: Sundet Cemetery near Nielsville.
