Susan Ann Mckie was the daughter of Robert McKie and Elisabeth Murray. She was married to William Arnold Emerson on Mar. 20, 1866 in Ste Foy, Quebec, Canada. They had 2 daughters Emily Marinda "Emma" (1868-1937) and Amelia (1870-1870) William Emerson died Oct. 29, 1871 in Dunlap, Harrison County, Iowa and Susan went back to Quebec with her daughter Emily where on Oct. 4, 1875 she married John West, Jr. in Ste Foy, Quebec. Susan and John had 1 son George Archibald born Dec. 20, 1876 in Ste Foy. Tragically Susan died of childbirth complications on Mar. 27, 1877 in Ste Foy, Quebec. The obituary reads (on the 27th instant, at St Foy, at the residence of her brother in law, Archibald West, Susan Ann Mckie, beloved wife of John West, Jr.. Her funeral will leave the residence of her brother-in-law on Thursday, 29th at two o'clock for Mount Hermon Cemetery.)
