Columbian, Formerly of Near Eastover, Dies After Short Illness.
John Thomas Addison, 79, of 15 South Marion street, died at the Columbia hospital at 3:30 Sunday afternoon after an illness of three weeks.
Mr. Addison, a retired farmer, moved to Columbia about eight or ten years ago from lower Richland county near Eastover. He had many friends, both in the city and in the community where he formerly lived, who will learn with regret of his death.
He was married twice, his first wife being Mrs. Lecitha Addison, who died about ten years ago.
Seven children born to this union survive, they are: Mrs. Florence Livingston, Mrs. Annie Livingston, Mrs. C. P. Joyner, Miss Bessie Addison and L. L. Addison, all of Columbia; Mrs. Sallie Phillips of Blackstock and W. H. Addison of North.
His second wife, who was Mrs. S. Harris before her marriage to Mr. Addison, also survives, as do eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 this afternoon at McLeod's Chapel Methodist church near Eastover, conducted by the Rev. A. B. Kennedy, pastor of Tabernacle Baptist church. Interment will be in the churchyard.
