Captain Gregg perished when U.S. Air Force B-36 Peacemaker #49-2660 crashed on landing at Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Twenty-three airmen were killed and two survived. Weather was blamed for the cause. The giant bomber was enroute from Carswell A.F.B. in Fort Worth and was ferrying additional peronnel to attend training at Kirtland.
