ABSTRACT: Known as "Annie." Died at her home, 228 Magnolia Ave. A native of England, she came to Long Beach two and one-half years ago from Idaho Falls. Survived by husband Samuel Southwick, two girls and six boys. Mrs. Pearl Jenkins, Arthur, Ernest and Joseph Southwick live in Long Beach. Other children are in Oregon. Annie accompanied her father, Jesse, and mother, Elizabeth, to Utah with the ill-fated Martin Handcart Company in 1856. Jessie died en route in Nebraska. Later, Annie's brother, William, died just two days outside of Salt Lake City. Her mother died three years later. "Annie" was raised by her uncle Shadrach Empey after her mother died.

Six Sons Bear Body of Mother to Grave
At funeral services held today for Mrs. Mary Ann Southwick, at Long Beach, six sons of the dead woman carried the body to its last resting place. In addition to her sons she left a husband and two daughters. She was a prominent worker In the Mormon church.
