EDENTON - Alice Hamlett Belch, 73, of Edenton, died May 26, 1993, in Chowan Hospital.
Mrs. Belch was born in Montgomery County, N.C., a daughter of the late Robert E. and Emma Griffin H. Poe Hamlett. She was the wife of the late G. Medlin Belch. She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught in the Washington and Chowan County school systems. She was a member of Edenton Baptist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a graduate of Flora McDonald College in Red Springs, N.C.
Survivors include her daughter, Claire Belch Broughton of Raleigh; one brother, Billy M. Hamlett of Southern Pines; and two grandchildren, Angela Hannon of Wilmington and Tanner Broughton of Raleigh. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Medlin Belch.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Beaver Hill Cemetery by Dr. Kenneth Word and the Rev. James Hyatt. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Williford-Barham Funeral Home.
