CHESTER JOHNSON
News has been received here of the death in Johnson City, Tenn., of Chester (Ted) Johnson, 22, of Laurel Hill, who died in the National hospital there, Dec 17.
Funeral services for the youth will be conducted at Laurel Hill today at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in the Almarante cemetery there. Young Johnson leaves one sister, Mrs. Edna Johnson Rice, who was with him at the time of his death, and two brothers, Hastings F. Johnson of Fort Barrancas and Charles Johnson of Laurel Hill.
Pallbearers will be members of the youth's high school class of 1927.

Ted was the youngest of 4 children born from his parents that survived childhood. He was raised by his mother in Laurel Hill, Florida. She died unexpectedly on 7 June 1927, the summer Ted graduated from high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy 3 days later.
He was medically discharged from the Navy in October 1930 due to moderately advanced tuberculosis.
While home, his condition worsened and he was admitted to the national hospital in Tennessee in November 1931. He died there December 1931. The picture to the left showing Ted standing in white shirt and pants was taken while he was at the hospital in Tennessee.
