Services were held Friday, Jan. 13, at the First United Methodist Church in Lenox for Doris M. Barker, 79, of Lenox. The Rev. Paul Grandon officiated with burial In the North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.
Mrs. Barker was born Feb. 4, 1909, in Gravity to Harry J. and Inice M. Perkins Crowell. She died Jan. 10, 1989, at the Stanton Care Center where she had resided for the last 21/2 years.
She was educated in Gravity and Corning and attended Drake University and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught school for three years near Guss before her marriage May 21, 1930, to Kenneth F. Barker in Gravity.
Mrs. Barker was a homemaker and secretary of Barker Implement In Lenox. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church In Lenox. United Methodist Women, Order of Eastern Star and Mayflower Federated Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Elene Heeren and husband Duane of Red Oak and Justine Mendenhall and husband Elvis of Prescott, Arizona, three sons. Kevin Barker and wife Mildred and Lonnie Barker and wife Billie Jean, all of Lenox and William H. Barker and wife Rebecca of Creston; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two great-grandsons, a brother and a sister.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Lenox.
