Peter Tillis Poissot was the son of Benoit Berthil Poissot and Marie Louisiana Bossier all of Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. Pete was a twin to a girl named Thelisma Poissot who died as an infant. He was a farmer but he also had many other trades that he was well known for, such as drawing teeth, making homemade tombstones which can still be seen in numerous cemeteries in central Louisiana. He was over six feet tall with ice blue eyes. French was his first language and he spoke english with a heavy french accent. Pete was born three years after the Civil War for which his father Berthil Poissot, his father's younger brother Joseph Cyrille Poissot and his grandfather, Jacques Victor Poissot all served in the Confederacy in Natchitoches Parish. Pete married three times in his life.
His first wife was Mary Zula Johnette [Jeanette] his second wife was Corine Winifred Lasyone and third, briefly to Lucy Elizabeth Ingles. The first and second marriages produced numerous children. In later life he was known as "Grandpa Pete" and was buried at Iatt Cemetery on March 6, 1962. At the time of his death he had more than 100 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
