He was married to Betty Lou Bowen at Corning, Iowa, February 16, 1941. He was a carpenter and farmer most of his life until becoming disabled in 1971.
Survivors include his wife, sons, Donal Jr. of Emperia, Kansas, David of Ottumwa, and Dennis of Portsmouth, Rhode, Island; a daughter Jane Ulrick of Eddyville and a brother Kenneth Barker of Lenox; a sister Lois Bickford of Littleton, Colorado, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Shrine of Memories Funeral Home in Ottumwa, December 28, at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. A. D. Pringle of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple officiating. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Ottumwa, Iowa.
